ethan and I ventured down to utah lake today and tried to take some pictures of him. he, however, did not want his picture taken. oh well! he still is pretty cute, even if he's sad.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the park. In January! Can you believe that? This weather is nuts!

January we continued to fall in love with this little boy as he went from baby to toddler.

February we played in the snow and I turned 26. We also lost my sweet grandpa who I miss dearly.

March was a lovely Hawaii trip! So. Much. Fun. I want to go back. Also Dan turned 27.

April we spent Easter weekend in Vegas with the DeMille's. Ethan also got his first haircut that weekend.

May Ethan fell in love with his lawn mower. Is that bad that's all I remember?

June was lots of rain and of course lots of time outside. Also our family squaw peak night.

July was our Disneyland trip. I seriously loved it and cannot wait to take Ethan back soon.

August our days at the pool and our nights at the park. I honestly don't remember much else.

September was mostly spent at the park. Ethan is a park lover and the gorgeous fall weather made it perfect. I love how simple our life is right now. We also spent a fun day at the fair with Ky, Ty and my dad. It is a day I will never forget.

In October our handsome Ethan turned two and we celebrated with a "Oh Two-doles" mouse party. He was the only kid there and was so adorable soaking up all the attention.

November was the hardest month yet. We lost my sweet father to cancer at 48 years old. He fought a very short and courageous battle and then he slipped away from us before we knew it. Not a day will go by that I won't miss him. dan and I also celebrated our 5 year anniversary with an overnighter at Stein Erikson. It was perfect. We have been through so much in our short five years and I continue to be amazed at how far we've come.

December was filled with mourning the loss of my dad and celebrated Christmas. We took many trips to Riverwoods to see the gorgeous lights, we went to Zoo lights and Italian Village with my family, Ethan and I went down to Vegas to visit family and went to the magical forrest, celebrated christmas, Spanish fork festival of lights and decorated the tree.

We had a good Christmas this year with our little two year old. He still wasn't as quite into as we hoped, but no doubt loves all his new presents. Christmas Eve was spent with my dad's family at my Aunt Chris' house. It was a hard night. Christmas Eve was always with my dad and it was just weird for him not to be there. At times it still feels surreal. We spent Christmas day at my mom's getting spoiled and were exhausted by the end of the weekend. We are so grateful for family and for the holiday season.

Two is incredible! Ethan is a dream boy most of the time. He still loves to be outside. Is a avid park player. Knows all his colors and can count to twenty. Loves cars and plays with them all day. Loves to push his shopping cart and lawn mower around the neighborhood. Is getting so good at talking. Still obsessed with mouse (mickey mouse clubhouse). Sleeps like a champ. Is the pickiest little eater ever, and loves dog dog (hot dogs) and grapes and cheese (mac n cheese) and strawberries. Loves to read books. Is a jumping pro. Obssessed with "bink and blank" or "2 b's" (his binky and his little blank) and his stuffed tiger Ike. I am love him more everyday.

just some things i want to jot down about my little boy so i never forget.

*he is obsessed with cars. he always has to have one in hand driving it around. any type of car is just fine for him. always which cars drive by. always has loved that.

*he loves to play on the speed bumps by our house, which led to his love for bumps. he loves going over bumps in the car, when he's walking, when he's pushing something, with his cars, with is hands, seriously with anything. most the day is saying "bump bump" about something.

*he calls his shoes his "hoo's" and i love it!

*he still loves mickey mouse. he can spot him anywhere and says "mouse" whenever he sees a TV.

*he loves to be outside and does not want to ever be contained. he loves to explore and wonder around. sometimes we end up miles from our house just because he loves it.

*he gets called a girl by someone at least once a week. he is just don't get it.

*he is the pickiest little eater and lives off fruit, cheese, and milk.

*he loves airplanes and always spots them.

*he loves to color and just learned the color yellow. and says it so adorable!

*he is talking so much and has the sweetest little voice.

*he loves to dance and can get so crazy and giggling spinning in all kinds of circles and laughing so hard. we love it.

*he randomly learned how to do the peace sign and say peace. we seriously have no idea how but it's so funny.

*he does somersaults. it is pretty hilarious as well.

he is seriously at the funnest age and I wish I could just freeze him before he gets too big and grown up. he is the sweetest little thing and makes me laugh all day long.

Ethan's first trip to disneyland was a complete success. He loved it, and maybe we did a little too!

we spent a week in laie hawaii. we loved it! it is so gorgeous and just to be out in the warm sun was amazing. Plus, we survived our first tsunami so that was quite the experience.

Dear Ethan,

I can't believe you are one year old. You are growing up so fast but I am loving every minute of it. Life would be so boring and lonely without you. You are such a good little boy. You are sleeping 12 hours at night and the only time you wake up is if we forget to turn your night light on. You are really attached to your little blankie and binky and won't fall asleep without them. You are crawling like a mad man and are so close to walking. You will walk along furniture and if you are pushing your lightning mcqueen. You love to read and you especially love the lift the flap books. You love being outside. I don't know what we are going to do all winter long! You love going on walks, swinging and going down the slide at the park, and crawling all over the grass. You can go up the stairs and think it is pretty cool, but you haven't figured out going down just quite yet. You weigh 22 lbs and are 30 inches tall. You love most food. Your favorites are string cheese, gogurt, bananas, apples, fruit smoothies, mac n cheese, grilled cheese, carrots, really you love most foods. You are still on your bottle but we are working at getting better with a sippy cup. You are drinking regular milk now which you love. You love having crawls wars with dad (where you guys just chase each other around crawling, it's pretty hilarious) You love to laugh, sometimes you laugh so hard I wonder if you are going to stop breathing. You still love the bath and have such a fun time splashing and playing with your toys in there. You also still love baby einstein and mickey mouse clubhouse. You love playing with balls and throw everything! You shake your head no no no all the time and think it's so funny. You say babble dadada and when I try and get you to say mama you say dada. We are convinced you say duck too, but it's one of those things only your parents understand. Baby ethan, you are amazing. everything about you. we love you so much and love watching you grow. love, mom & dad

we had a racecar theme party for baby ethan. it was so much fun and we are thankful for everyone who came! he got spoiled and hated his cake and ended up staying up until almost midnight. i think it was the best party a one year old could have! watching this little boy grow up and turn one is a-mazing! what more could anyone want then to watch something so little and innocent grow and learn and light up when he sees you. happy birthday first birthday ethan! Sadly I didn't get many pictures but this last weekend we headed up to float the snake river. It was gorgeous. Seriously, it's breath taking up there. We had a blast. It was dans first time and he loved it. We definitely can't wait to go again. And to take Ethan.. in about 5 years.

we had a fabulous time at the thanksgiving point dinosaur museum today. we had to take advantage of the two dollar tuesday. although a bit crowded, it was really neat to see the exhibit. ethan had so much fun playing in the dirt, such a boy!

9 months

Ethan turned 9 months on the 4th of July.

is 20 lbs and 29" long.

is so close to crawling and is getting so frustrated that he can't.
is trying to pull himself up on everything. rolls and scoots around all over the place.

loves to eat. Favorites are squash, yogurt, fresh fruit, pizza, yams, carrots, and cheese.

is obsessed with watching us brush our teeth and loves toothbrush and toothpaste, the Minty kind.

cabo this year was amazing (as always) ethan did great and I am so glad we ended up bringing him. we had lots of family to help out which made it really nice. dan & i were able to go out a few times alone. we had an amazing time swimming, eating, and relaxing!

I had a wonderful first mother's day. dan and ethan made it nothing short of amazing and I got spoiled. I am so lucky to have those two. The one thing I asked Ethan for was to learn how to sleep through the night, and it was the only thing I did not get. As I was sitting playing with him today I realized I did not even care that he is 7 months old and still not sleeping though the night. It is just one more chance I get to cuddle up, just us, and rock him to sleep.

Ican't stop thinking about how lucky I am to be a mom, a mom to my ethan baby. it is not always easy and a there are a lot of sacrifices of motherhood, but there is no where I would rather be. watching this little boy grow and learn is amazing, and there is nothing better than seeing him giggle so hard he can barely breath or when he learns something new and can't stop smiling because he is beyond proud of himself. he has taught me a lot in 7 short months. I always remember people talking about how wonderful motherhood is, but it is not until I became a mother that I truly understood the joy it brings. I never thought I could love this little boy so much and be so fulfilled by being his mother.

Happy first Mother's Day to me! And happy mother's day to dan and I's amazing mother's as well!

our little boy is 6 months old! Here's a little bit about our 6 month old...
*he weighs 17 lbs and is 27" tall.
*he loves foods. His favorites are swet potaoes, carrots, squash, and applesauce.
*he still is obsessed with baby eistein and gets so giddy when the little catapiller appears.
*he can roll over (both ways)
*he can sit up by himself.
*he loves to giggle and scream so loud.
*he loves to be hung upside down and to be thrown up in the air.
*still loves his swing and the bath.
*he finally learned to sleep in his crib but still hasn't gotten down that he is supposed to sleep through the night everynight.
*he loves to sit outside an watch the cars drive by. His little head just follows them as they pass by.

ethan's blessing day was amazing. i have always thought about my kids blessing, what they would wear, what my husband would say. dan gave a blessing that was exactly perfect. the words come out so wonderfully, and he blessed him with great things. i sat in the chapel and was as proud as anyone could be. i am so blessed to have such wonderful boys in my life, dan who keeps me laughing and loves my unconditionally. and Ethan, how I got so lucky to have this beautiful little boy I will never know. He has taught me more than I ever imagined already. He has taught my patience, he has taught me courage, and love beyond anything I ever knew was possible. Life has just slowed down since having him, and I love it. I love my little family so,so much.

Dan has been under the weather plus had finals but is now done and we are looking foward to the holidays! so excited for ethan's first christmas even though he could care less! he is such a good baby and is now sleeping through the night. before he would get up at about 4-5 but now he sleeps until about 8. it is so nice. he had his 2 month check up a couple weeks ago and his stats were 12 lbs and 23.5" long, which put him in the 70 something % for both. we just love him to pieces

Monday Dan and I celebrated our three year anniversary. We went to dinner at Cucina Toscana (we went there the night we got engaged and we've gone every year on our anniversary) Dan also suprised my with tickets to Imogen Heap last week. It was perfect!

It seems ridiculous to try and say how much Dan means to me! He is my best friend and is the best husband and I feel so lucky! We have so much fun together and I couldn't imagine my life without. Watching him become a father has made me love him even more than I thought I could. Happy three years babe, here's to many more!

Ethan was born on october 4th at 10:47 pm. About 2:30 that morning I started bleeding and so we went to labor and delivery. They monitored me for a couple of hours and finally the dr. came in and broke my water and said he didn't feeling comfortable sending me home with the bleeding. They think my placenta could have been abrupting. Anyways, Ethan is the cutest, sweetest little boy in the world and we couldn't love him more or feel more privileged to be his parents. Unfortunately, our little guy is still in the hospital. Delivery was a little rough for him and so he has been in the NICU. Coming home without our little guy was the hardest thing we've ever done. It has been so hard to watch him cry and be miserable and not be able to be able to even pick him up and hold him. I did however get to hold him on Wednesday for the first time. It was the most amazing feeling ever. I was visiting him and he was just crying and crying and nothing the nurses could do would make him feel better. It is the worst feeling as a mother to watch your baby cry and not be able to do anything to comfort him. Finally the nurse agreed to let me hold him for a few minutes and he just calmed right down. Now that his UA is out of his umbilicus, we can hold him as much as we'd like. He is doing a lot better and they moved him into the level 2 nursery last night. All his cultures came back negative and he will finish his antibiotics tomorrow night. He hasn't had a fever or unstable vital signs for days now. The main thing now is just getting him to eat. He has not been able to eat one thing since he was born. It is so sad because he just acts so hungry, even though he is getting IV fluids he doesn't have the satisfaction of eating. He had so much old blood and stuff in his stomach from delivery, so they have been taking things really slow with him eating. We are praying that we can start feeding him soon and so we can bring our baby boy home. This has been one of the biggest emotional roller coaster for us. We were so hopeful that Monday would be the day he could come home, but now that's not looking so good. Please pray for him and that we can bring him home soon!

this weekend was pat and jordan's wedding! it was fabulous. we stayed the weekend in midway with danny and liz. we had a blast eating WAY too much sugar, staying up WAY too late, and the boys playing WAY too much x box. but i wouldn't want it any other way. friday was pat and jordan's wedding dinner up at solitude and it was so beautiful up there. we saw 2 moose and had delicious food. saturday was the big day and everything turned out lovely! we are so excited for these two!

well i am 34 weeks along, so that means 6 more weeks at the most! i can not wait to not be pregnant anymore. i honestly don't get the people who say the love being pregnant. i mean it is wonderful feeling the little guy move around and being able to carry him, but i am so over it and ready to be done. plus the fact we are DYING to meet the little guy!

dan is playing on a baseball team this summer and has been loving it. they play every saturday and he has been doing very well! go reds!!

this is from our 20 week ultrasound! both our moms got to be there and it was so cool to see everything in such detail. we saw his brain, his hearth pumping blood, his kidneys bladder, all his bones. anyways it was really fun. he is so cute already and in one of the pictures he had his legs crossed so cute like he was just kicking back and relaxing in there. the ultrasound tech knew we already knew it was a boy, but she totally got us by saying "wait a minute, who told you it was a boy?" dan about died! it was funny! but it definitely was still a boy.

i have really been slacking in the blog world lately. things are wonderful with us. i am 26 weeks which means only 3 months (ish) left! it really is going by fast (and slow) and we cannot wait to have are baby boy here! it has been so fun shopping for him and getting the nursery ready. i will post pics as soon as it's done. other than that not much has been going on. dan is in summer school and is hating every minute of it!

so dan and i just got back from laguna last week. on friday some of the maxfield's came down. it was a blast and a much needed getaway. we ate way too much, hung out on the beach, went to a padres game, saw star trek, went shopping, played games. oh, and there is also a pic of my 5 month pregnant self. i am getting big.

this year just my mother, my sisters, and I went to Cabo! it was a blast! we laid by the beach and pool, ate, swam with the dolphins (pictures to come), and just hung out! it was a blast! i love cabo! i already can't wait to go back.

so last week the DeMille's were in town from Vegas to take Cam to the MTC. The first night they were here we went to dinner and mini golfing. it was a lot of fun. then on tuesday we had family pics taken by Jessie Alexis Photography...here are just a few. They turned out really good and the canyon was absolutely gorgeous. after pictures we went up to Maxfield's cabin in Midway and ate dinner and hung out. Wednesday we took Cam to the MTC. honestly the MTC is one of the saddest places ever! Oh, and there are a few pics from the weekend. We were up in Midway again and we were trying to pop popcorn by calling our cell phones! come to find out, it doesn't work! you tube lies! we must have been really bored! ha!

... and i am sitting in my pajamas really bored because my sweet hubby is working! now that i don't have to spend all my time studying my ABC's, lab values, medications, ect. (yes, i PASSED my NCLEX! yay!) i have decided to take up some hobbies. A girl I work with inspired my to try making cute cards. so i went out and bought a card making book and some supplies (thanks dan!) and have been making cards all evening. it was been quite enjoyable. honestly, it's been kind of nice just sitting at home, getting caught up on laundry, and crafting on a friday night! anyways, nothing else has really been going on lately. lots of studying for dan and working for me! life is good! i don't think it gets better than utah in the fall. perfect weather. beautiful mountains. and great clothes (i love fall shopping)! we are headed to vegas next weekend to enjoy some time with cam before he leaves to the houston, tx mission on october 1st! go cam! :)

so dan has returned from his 3 week hunting safari in africa! yes, dan went hunting! :) he had a blast and was able to kill a zebra, giraffe, kudu, baboon, worthog, eland, impala and i think that's all! honestly, it's kind of sad to see some of these animals dead, but the only thing i think makes it better is that they donate the meat to feed the natives! they even eat giraffe! dan had giraffe soup one night! and on that note, he does not recommend it! ha! anyways, here are some pictures of some of the animals and places he stayed! they were in zimbabwe, about 3 hours outside of buluwayo. he went with my father, my brother, and one of my dad's friends cory. i missed him terribly while he was gone, but still managed to have some fun! my sister's and i went down to laguna beach for a week and shopped, rode beach cruisers on the boardwalk, and went to disneyland! it was a blast! and i had a lot of fun catching up with lots of friends! and hanging out with devyn one night! anyways, i am glad he is safe and home and that he had a great time!

Weekend Getaway

so this weekend dan and i decided to go up to stein erickson! we figured since he is leaving to africa next week for 3 weeks that we needed to spend a little time together! we honestly had a blast! i love it up there! besides it being absolutely beautiful, they have the greatest service and wait on you hand and foot. we layed by the pool, watched movies, ate dinner and brunch on the patio over looking deer valley. it was great, and much needed!

so this year dan was begging me to get tickets to the stadium of fire to go see miley cyrus! it was a fun night, glenn beck hosting it, the blue man group preformed, and of course the reason why the thousands of little girls, and dan, wanted to go...miley cyrus! and of course, the fireworks were amazing! (if you didn't know, i am being totally sarcastic about dan wanting to go, however, he did end up having fun and even singing along to miley, ha ha)

So on Friday I graduated! It was such a bittersweet day. I am so exicited to be done and not have to worry about studying all the time, but I have met some really neat people at school and will miss them. Anyways, our graduation was at Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy, and it turned out so beautiful. After the ceremony, Jess, Cory, Ash, Forrest, Holly, Fesi, Dan, and I went up to Forrest' house and made a fire and roasted mallows and drank some bubbly! It was a lovely night! Thanks for everyone who came and for all the wonderful presents, flowers, money...I truly got spolied!

So i just found out that I got a job in the operating room! Move over Meredith and Izzy, ha ha! No but seriously, I am so excited to start working as an OR nurse. I will be circulating and scrubing! I am very sad to quit my current job because I absolutely love it, but I think it will be a good change. My schedule in the OR is M-F 7-3 which I would so much rather do right now than graveyards! Anyways, just thought I would let everyone know about my new job!

A Wedding Weekend

so this weekend we went down to vegas to attend spencer & ashley and lindsey & pike's weddings! There were both beautiful and both couples were so happy and both brides looked beautiful! both couples got married saturday in the las vegas temple, but lindsey and pike's reception was friday night and spencer and ashley's was saturday night! it was a tiring weekend but we are so excited for them! (fyi lindsey is basically family, dan's family and her family grew up together, and spencer is dan's little brother)

So last Thursday Dan picked me up from school and we went to the Hogle Zoo! Dan had to go observe 3 different types of monkeys for one hour each for his anthropologie class! BORING! So while he sat and watched the monkeys/apes, I booked it all over the zoo...by myself! ha! It was actually kind of fun! I hadn't been to the zoo in ages! There was the cutest bab giraffe!

Dan and I have both been so busy lately finishing up school and working. Dan has just a few weeks and i have 8 weeks left! I am just trying to finish up 3 classes, finish my preceptor and community hours! Life is busy but I am so happy to be almost done!

trip to laguna

so we had a lovely trip to laguna. the weather was perfect! i seriously think that southern california weather is the most ideal weather in the world! that is why one day we will live there! :) anyways, we flew in on wednesday afternoon and spent some time at the beach and just hung out! thursday dan and i went and saw wicked in la! it was so dang good! i loved it. after we went to in n out and binged on animal style fries and sandwiches! friday we went down to laguna and shopped a little. dan and i took a romantic walk on the beach friday night, ha! also on friday spencer (dan's brother) and his fiance ashley drove down from vegas. it was so fun having them to hang out with! they are getting married may 3rd! so then saturday the whole fam went to the swap meet. cam, clark, garrett, dan and spenc were all thrilled that all the breakfast items were only a dollar! :) that night we went to crab cooker in newport (yum) and then dan, spenc, ash and i went shopping at ivrine spectrum! we scored some good deals at h&m. Sunday was easter. we went to church and then came back and had lunch! and then dan and i flew home that night! it was a nice getaway! oh, and you gotta love the model pic i made dan take! ha, he is going to kill me once he sees this!

so this weekend was fun! Dan and I both worked Friday night, and then Saturday night we had Karlie, Brooks, and Mac and Reagan, Mike, and Devyn over for pizza and of course...Rock band. And then Sunday night Dan's boss, Jason, had a bunch of friends from Ruby River over to hang out with him and his family. We had a blast playing ping pong and.....Rock band. Ha ha! I swear that is all we do when we get together with anyone these days! Oh, and how cute are Mac and Devyn! We set them up on their first date! :) Anyways, Wednesday we are off to California to meet up with the DeMille's and spend the rest of the week out there!

So yesterday Dan turned 24! We had such a fun day just spending time together! I bought him some new golf clubs and a new golf bag for his birthday! He is so excited to get out and golf! I also threw him a suprise party last night. Birthday Week

So Saturday was my birthday, I turned 23. Wow, I am getting old! ha! As my family knows, every year I celebrate my birthday for a whole week! ha! My birthday is a pretty big deal. So I had a lovely day, well I had a lovely week. I went to lunch with my family, shopping, dinner at Cucina Toscana, dinner at Cheesecake Facory, lunch to Pizza factory with all my friends from high school! Anways, it was a good birthday week. Dan got me a 90 minute hot stone massage and mani and pedi, so I will be going to get that this week. I am also out of school this week so it has an absolute delight! ha..

So last night Dan and I couldn't decide on anything to do! We decided to go to Wal-Mart and see if there were any good movies to buy, but we have pretty much already purchased everything worth while. So, as we were headed out we saw Nerf guns. We decided to buy them and bring them home and have a Nerf War! It was a blast. We turned off all the lights in our house and would take turns hiding and finding each other. It got pretty intense, we were jumping over couches and hiding behind everything!

So I know it has been forever, but our home computer has been broken and that's where I manage all of my photo's! So... we had a Christmas party at our house this year. It ended up being a lot of fun, just friends hanging out, playing Guitar Hero, and eating of course! Christmas was lovely this year as well. We opened gifts from each other Christmas Eve. Dan got me all I could have ever asked for and more! We truly did get 100% spoiled this year! Anyways, Christmas morning we woke up and went to my mom's for present and breakfast. We spent a few hours there and then hit the road and headed to Vegas! We got there around 5:00 and had dinner with the DeMille's and played games. Dan and I stayed in Vegas for like 5 days and it was nice to just relax! Then it was back home and to work. We both worked New Year's Eve, which was fine. I'm not a huge New Year's fan, so I chose to work and make time and a half! We spent the rest of the week snowboarding and relaxing. Now it is back to school (so not looking foward, only 6 more months...aahh!)

So this last Monday I took my LPN states boards, and I found out today that I PASSED!! I was so nervous because I left there having no idea how I did! I am very excited that I passed, and for the $4.00/hr pay raise at work!

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

So Friday Dan and I celebrated our one year anniversary. Going to Cabo a few weeks ago was a big gift this year. Anyways, it was such a lovely day. We are both so busy with work and school and stuff it was nice to just take a whole day for the two of us. We woke up and I made the most incredible sticky buns (so easy, i will post the recipe later), and then Dan went to school for a couple of hours. He came home with beautiful flowers. We then went to Color Me Mine and painted for a couple hours. It was a lot of fun. After that we headed up to Salt Lake to have dinner at our favorite resturuant Cucina Toscana for dinner. My mom had had the top tier of our cake in her freezer so when we got home we had a bite of that (even though i hate cake!) I love you Dan!
